The cheongsam is a female dress with distinctive Chinese features and enjoys a growing popularity in the international world of high fashion.
The name "cheongsam," meaning simply "long dress," entered the English vocabulary from the dialect of China's Guangdong Province (Cantonese). In other parts of the country including Beijing, however, it is known as "qipao", which has a history behind it.
When the early Manchu rulers came to China proper, they organized certain people, mainly Manchus, into "banners" (qi) and called them "banner people" (qiren), which then became loosely the name of all Manchus. The Manchu women wore normally a one-piece dress which, likewise, came to be called "qipao" or "banner dress." Although the 1911 Revolution toppled the rule of the Qing (Manchu) Dynasty, the female dress survived the political change and, with later improvements, has become the traditional dress for Chinese women.
Easy to slip on and comfortable to wear, the cheongsam fits well the female Chinese figure. Its neck is high, collar closed, and its sleeves may be either short, medium or full length, depending on season and taste. The dress is buttoned on the right side, with a loose chest, a fitting waist, and slits up from the sides, all of which combine to set off the beauty of the female shape.
The cheongsam is not too complicated to make. Nor does it call for too much material, for there are no accessories like belts, scarves, sashes or frills to go with it.
Another beauty of the cheongsam is that, made of different materials and to varying lengths, they can be worn either on casual or formal occasions. In either case, it creates an impression of simple and quiet charm, elegance and neatness. No wonder it is so much liked by women not only of China but of foreign countries as well.

Hello, everybody, my name is Xue Yinjie. I"m 12 years old. I study at Fenghuang Primary school. I"m in class 1 grade 6. I go to school at 7 o"clock every morning. We read English everyday. There are three lessons in the morning. We have lunch at 11 o"clock. After lunch, we have a rest. The lessons in the afternoon are much more interesting. There are Art lesson, computer studies, Music lesson and Science lesson. We leave school at four.
Everybody, let me show you around my school. My school is not big, but it"s very beautiful. There is a broad road in the center of the school. In the two sides of the road, there are many green trees and beautiful flowers. In the left side of the road, there are two teaching buildings and a meeting Hall. Teachers often get together every Monday afternoon. There are about 24 classrooms in our school, included two computer rooms and an Art room. We like computer studies very much. We can surf the Internet and play computer games, and sometimes we write emails to each other. In front of the teaching building, there is a river. We can see big ships on it, and it always makes noise. Around the rive, there are some flowers and trees. In spring, we can see many butterflies and other insects. We watch they dance in the flowers. They dance so beautifully. In summer, we can catch grasshoppers between the grass. We have great fun there. In the right side of the road ,there is a library and a big playground. There are many kinds of books in the library. After lunch, we often go to the library to find some interesting books. We often read books about animals and interesting stories. We can learn a lot from the books. We do morning exercise everyday, and we like doing exercise. In the free time, we often play football and basketball. Last month, we had a sports meeting, we were all very excided, especially when we saw the teacher"s running race.

The young should show our Chinese culture and good manners to the world .I t is easy to say than to do ，most of us didn’t pay enough attention to “seven don’ts” sometimes they throw rubbish everywhere ，cross the road when the light is red ough they know these behavirous are not good ，they still do it .I hope everyone of us can take part in this social practice should carry ourselves well ，respect our teachers and so on ，try to show our best manners to the world .

二. 孩子们的学习状态
大部分孩子都能认真学习，积极参与课堂，每天回家都能按要求听英语，读英语，从每一次单元测验到期中学力竞赛的成绩反馈来看，平时要求掌握的知识，绝大多数孩子都能很好的掌握，在此也要感谢各位家长的配合与付出，大家每天坚持督促孩子在家听读英语，帮孩子签名，在此也表示感谢!特别是这些学生的作业，不仅按时完成，而且书写工整漂亮。(表扬作业好的同学)
在抽考中我们也发现一些存在的问题，比如有的孩子在读英语的时候有些句子或单词的发音不是非常准确，有些孩子读的英语乍一听觉得好像是那么回事，可你仔细一听却发现他读得根本不对，出现这种情况有可能是孩子上课没有认真听讲，因为每节课上老师对那些比较难读的单词或句子都会重点讲解，要求孩子们看老师的发音部位及口型，有些孩子没有专心听讲的就可能没有看而只是听老师或光盘里大概是这么读的，就自己模仿去读了，因此当家长发现有这种情况时请一定要及时纠正也可以在给孩子签名时反馈给我，我会在第二天及时帮孩子纠正，当然每天学习新的内容以前我们都会复习昨天学过的内容，有时我也会抽一些同学来背，但由于时间关系我不可能每个人都抽到，有时我就让同桌之间互相抽背再把情况反馈给我。另外有一些孩子可能今天学习的内容很快就学会了，而且回家不听光盘就会背了，而有些孩子可能在家听了很多遍却还是不会，家长就在想是不是在学校又没有听课啊?其实这是很正常的，人的记忆力是有差异的，我们人类有记忆能力，能记住很多东西，但别忘了我们也会遗忘，我曾经看过一篇报道说人要记住某个东西要连续16天都反复复习的话，他的记忆将是最牢固的，因此，请在座的家长也和我一起鼓励和督促孩子在学习英语的时候要注意记忆规律，提醒孩子及时有效地复习。
四.我校英语特色
我校从一年级开设英语课，每周5课时，二年级开始每周增加一节外教口语课。一年级选用的是广东教育出版社出版的《儿童英语》教材，这套教材主要是为了培养孩子们学习英语的兴趣，每一课都包含5个内容，歌谣(要求会读，能背诵)，歌曲(要求会唱)，故事(要求会读，能表演)，对话(要求会读，能用句型进行问答)，游戏(会用句型玩游戏)。每一课的前三页内容比较难，后两页内容相对简单些，因此，我们在教学中根据先易后难的原则，先学习游戏和句型，为比较难的内容先打好基础，做好铺垫，这样孩子们学起来会相对轻松些。从二年级开始我们将采用人教版的PEP英语教材，这套教材是从三年级至六年级，共四套8本教材，我们学校的特色在于从二年级开始学PEP三年级起始用的英语教材，三年级用四年级的教材，以此类推，到五年级我们就学完了小学的教材，六年级的时候我们就学习剑桥国际英语教材。通过在双语学校六年的学习，大多数孩子的英语都非常扎实，孩子们进入初中后英语占有很大的优势，因为无论是中考还是高考英语都是一门很重要也很容易拉分的主科，其实不仅仅是英语我们的孩子在进入中学后都取得了不错的成绩，在中学的口碑也很好，惠高或者其他重点中学的老师都反映东湖双语学校的学生懂文明，讲礼貌，英语成绩特别好，而且学习的潜力相当大，因为我们不像其他的公立学校那样为了成绩而给孩子们布置很多的作业或者做很多的试卷，我们的教育理念是向课堂40分钟要质量，让孩子们快乐学习，健康成长，孩子的习惯培养，品德教育比学习成绩更重要!
五：给家长的建议
因此，我给家长提出几点建议：
1. 对孩子的英语学习要有适当的要求，为孩子制定一个适合自己的英语学习目标，求其上而取其中，求其中而取其下。至少老师布置的作业要每天按要求完成，有些孩子每天回家根本就没有听读过英语，家长也很少签名，这样孩子的英语就很难学好的，因为英语是一门外语不像汉语是我们的母语，我们每天生活的环境都是说的汉语，耳濡目染孩子们自然都会说了，而我们的周围缺乏说英语的环境，如果回家再不听听书本上的英语的话那我们的耳朵对英语就没那么敏感了，到时考试的时候考英语听力就会很吃亏，因此，督促孩子养成听英语的习惯很重要!希望家长能多配合，帮助孩子养成这个习惯。
2. 在孩子读完英语后，在孩子的英语本上签名。您的签名就是孩子完成了英语作业的标志，英语每天孩子的英语听读作业都是在家里完成的，孩子听没听，读没读，我都不知道，这就需要家长的监督和配合，我们班大部分家长都做得很好，孩子的作业每天都有签名，有些是家长偶尔忘记签名，但过后都会补上，但也有个别孩子的英语作业经常没有签名，我想这也有我的责任，因为前两次家长会都因为太忙了，我还没有跟大家聊过，没讲过英语方面的要求，希望我今天讲了之后，我们的作业会越来越好，孩子们的英语也能越学越好!
3. 及时与老师沟通。其实我很想每天都能跟大家说说孩子们的英语学习情况，也很想了解孩子在家里学习英语是一种什么状态，是很开心，很积极地自己去听英语，还是要让家长反复督促才嘟着嘴满脸不高兴地去听呢?但我确实也有点忙，因为我带两个班的英语，同时又是2班的班主任，有时候学校安排的各项活动涉及到我们年级组的我也要去协调，督促，因此可能每天我能改完作业，备好课，处理完事情后就没多少时间来给大家打电话说说孩子的情况了，一般情况下您没接到我的电话，就说明孩子基本上在学校里或者在英语学习上都还不错，如果孩子表现特别好或特别不好我会通过校讯通或者电话告诉大家，如果大家对孩子的英语学习还有什么困惑，或者对我们的英语教学还有什么好的建议或意见也欢迎大家提出来，可以当面跟我说，给我打电话，发信息或者让刘老师转告都可以，让我们能更好地改进工作，也能使我们的孩子能更好地成长!再次谢谢大家的光临，也感谢您一直以来对我工作的支持和包容，谢谢!
